Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

My Trackr ("the App") is an activity and trip tracker for Android made by BIAN Tech ("BIAN", "we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App collects, uses, stores and protects information, in particular location data.

2. Location data is sensitive

Location history can reveal where you live and work, your routines, and visits to places such as clinics or places of worship. Please read this Policy before using the App, protect your device with a screen lock, and delete trips you no longer need.

Use the App only to track yourself. Do not use it to track another person without their clear permission.

3. Information the App stores on your device

By default the App stores the following only on your device:

• Location during tracking: GPS coordinates recorded while a tracking session is running, and the routes they form;
• Trip details: speed, distance, elevation, duration and timestamps for each trip;
• Activity type: walking, running, cycling or driving, detected on your device or set by you;
• Places you save: places you choose to name, such as home or work;
• Offline maps: map tiles you download for use without a connection;
• Settings: your preferences.

The App does not collect your name, email address or phone number, your contacts, photos, messages or call logs, device identifiers such as your Android ID or advertising ID, or usage analytics.

4. How location is used

• While you use the App: to show where you are and record your route.
• In the background: only during a tracking session you start, so the route is recorded while the screen is off. Android shows a notification while this happens. You can stop at any time by ending the session or withdrawing location access.
• Accuracy: GPS accuracy depends on your device and surroundings and is often within a few metres, but it is not guaranteed.

Location data on your device could, like any data on your phone, be requested in legal proceedings. We do not hold your location data, so we cannot provide it to anyone; you control it on your device.

5. Permissions

You can refuse or withdraw any permission in Android's settings. Tracking needs location access; other features keep working without the permissions they do not use.

6. Connections the App makes

• Map tiles: to show maps, the App requests map tiles from a map provider (such as OpenStreetMap or Google Maps). Requests reveal the area you are viewing and your IP address to that provider. Offline maps you downloaded need no connection.
• Google Play services: may be used for location accuracy and activity recognition, under Google's privacy policy.
• Google Play: you install and update the App through Google Play, under Google's terms.

7. Optional features

The following apply only where a version of the App offers them and only if you choose to use them.

• Cloud sync and backup: if you turn it on, the App may store an account email address and sign-in tokens, sync your trips across your devices, and back them up. Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored encrypted with a cloud infrastructure provider. You can turn sync off and ask us to delete cloud data at any time; deleting your account removes cloud data within 30 days.
• Analytics: any analytics would be anonymous and aggregated, would contain no location data, and could be switched off in the App's settings.
• Purchases: paid features would be sold through Google Play Billing. We would receive only the purchase status, never your payment details.
• Sharing: you can export or share a trip or route. Once shared, it is handled by whoever receives it.

We do not use advertising networks, social-media tracking SDKs, data brokers or location-data marketplaces, and we never sell your location.

8. Storage, retention and export

• Data on your device is kept in an encrypted database, with keys protected by the Android Keystore.
• It stays until you delete it. You can delete single trips, date ranges or all history at any time, and uninstalling the App removes it.
• You can export trips as GPX or CSV files. Exported files are no longer protected by the App, so keep them safe.
• If you email us, we keep your message only as long as we need it to answer you, and no longer than 24 months unless the law requires otherwise.

9. Security

Data is protected on your device by encryption and Android's app sandbox, and the App's own connections are encrypted. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure: use a screen lock, keep your device updated, and install apps only from trusted sources.

10. Your rights and choices

You control your data in the App: view it, edit trip details, delete trips or all history, export it, turn optional features off, or uninstall the App.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK GDPR, the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA) and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to and move personal data an organisation holds about you, and to withdraw consent. For data on your device, use the controls above. For data we hold, such as cloud data or an email you sent us, write to us. Where we rely on your consent (for example, background location or cloud sync), you can withdraw it at any time. We do not sell or share personal information, as those words are used in the CCPA. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

We answer requests within 30 days, and may ask you to confirm details before acting on one.

11. Children

The App is not directed to children. You must be at least 13, or older if the law where you live requires it; younger users need a parent or guardian's permission and supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and will delete any we learn of.

12. International transfers

If you use cloud features, your data may be processed in other countries by our infrastructure providers, with appropriate safeguards. Map and Google services process requests under their own policies.

13. Changes to this Policy

We will publish any new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the App about material changes before they apply. This Policy will be reviewed before My Trackr returns to Google Play.

What changed in this version. The developer is now named BIAN Tech, we added your rights and how to complain to a regulator, and we removed contract terms from this Policy. The website Terms cover the App's use.

Nothing in this Policy limits rights you have under the law where you live that cannot be limited by agreement.
